You get more of the stuff you usually don’t get enough of
Control
I respect that you are the expert on you. Your health goals and values drive decision-making. Together we strategise within your capability and readiness to reach your health targets. This means setting goals that are within reach and at your own pace. And on the way to building self-determination, you get to understand better what drives your version of health and disease. Until you feel confident in your own abilities to manage and control your health outcomes.
Holistic
Health care that is disease-centric can sometimes forget about the underlying person. How you experience disease is specific to you and your circumstances. I acknowledge the person behind the disease, who lives on all planes at once: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, societal, and environmental. Taking a holistic and comprehensive history is the primary way to derive meaningful associations between life events and disease states. This method works well with your current health team and together offers better care.
Individual
It’s just a better experience when outcomes are driven by your individual needs and circumstances. We all are different. A unique blend of genes and environment. With different histories, values, customs, motivations, tastes, preferences, and behaviours. All these things contribute to a healthy and unhealthy expression of you but also suggest solutions that may only be suitable for you.
Natural
Working with the body's natural inclinations is a more gentle approach. The body’s innate tendency is towards self-correction; if given the necessary tools. Some of these tools include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, water, oxygen, fibre, omega 3s, antioxidants, and sleep. Tools that help organs to function optimally which in turn creates the right environment for a healthy ecosystem to flourish.
Prevention
The ultimate goal is not the absence of disease but optimal health. That's why it's important to identify trends in the wrong direction, earlier. I compare your conventional lab tests to what international bodies have established as optimal reference ranges; rather than a range that represents a 'normal' population but is not necessarily healthy. A gene report may also offer early insights into potential gene expression weaknesses. While these tests are not viewed as isolated entities but within the whole-person presentation, together they can offer a more nuanced picture.
Support
You get more support because consults are longer which means more face-to-face time and more in-depth analysis. Leading to the identification and targeting of disease processes rather than symptom bandaids. This is managed with dietary, lifestyle, behavioural, herbal, and/or nutritional support. And if these changes are proving to be too difficult, any number of consults (determined according to your needs) can be dedicated to health coaching. Together we explore strategies to make change easier.
